Evaluation Question four

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Considering with out the use of media technologies completing this year would be mission impossible as they where current though out down to the last details such as the blogs that contain all the work form the last year , we was able to use media technologies in a number of different ways, we needed it in order to create our websites , our digi pack , our final video and through the work we uploaded E.G prezi so an understanding of these media technology's are vital to be able to create and display our work in the best way possible. There are a number of different media technologies that have been used though out the year such as the Apple macs  and the SLR cameras and our camera phones  this is hard technology, then we have media technology such as Microsoft office word, Microsoft PowerPoint, powtoon that we where able to create our work and ideas on that would then be able to upload to our blogs , finally photo shop, final cut for our final production of the music video and our digi pack.  

we started of the year with creating our very own music video over the summer with the equipment we had at home I was able to use my iPhone this is a form of media technology along with movie maker as I did not have final cut software on my computer.

with my limited experience with final cut last year I found movie maker to be much easier but I found that it limited me very much in what I was able to do during the editing unlike final cut with the many affects that you are able to add to your video that would limit your final product so making sure my skills in final cut improve in order to make the best of this years final product, its clear to see that the quality of filming differs depending on the form of digital technology that you use , the iPhone was very blurry and the images where not great and filming time was very limited as each clip could only be a maximum of about six minutes long so there was a lot of stop and starting and made the filming a lot harder but this experience and the use of this technology prepared me for the year to come.

The next step was the research looking at a number of different videos where we are able to look over and  analyse them this would help us with our current work allowing us to identify codes and conventions of our genre and look at the different styles of music videos that where available to us like performance narrative and abstract the media technology we used for this media technology we used was                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        usedduring    YouTube this was  fastest and easier ways of accessing a number of different music videos at any time  allowing me to go over re-wind and re-watch  the video if I needed to its available at any time , this is when we went on to chose this as our way of displaying our final  music video as it is an easy way for people to be able to access our video making more available for our audience. YouTube was a media technology used throughout the hole process as was used for research and where able to use it during planning to help us recognise and a number of different RandB videos that prepared  us for making ours helping us identified codes and conventions that would be needed, then finally YouTube  is where we displayed our final music video. This form of technology allowed my research to be much easier during the process as I could access and watch videos any where and really helped me understand the content of a music video which I believe benefited my work though out and contributed to the final piece.

 

Moving onto planning media technology's enabled me to display my work and the planning that had taken place in a creative format that I was able to add and upload to my blog these where things such as prize and power point presentations and as part of my evaluation I was able to use powtoon, this allowed me and the groups to create mind maps that displayed many of our ideas that we had for our final product, this allowed you to chose a different style of layout depending on the different way you wanted to display your ideas depending on the amount of detail that needed to be added you are able to chose for you self the style that you would like allowing you create and display the ideas in a way that you like allowing it to be easy for your group to understand, not only that it allowed me to display my ideas in a more interactive creative way that other ways would not allowing not only text but images and text to be added this was good when we looked closely at the codes and conventions for our chosen genre as we created a prezi allowing us to add images along side the text showing exactly what is expected when making our video.

final cut was a media technology that we used for the creation of our music video was considering in last years final production I had minimum involvement in editing and final cut and looking at it just scared me I didn't even no where to start I am far from a final cut genius but have been able to gain basic skill, we used final cut when taking part in the editing to the beat task this was just as it sounds we where editing to the beat given both the clip and the track we simply had to cut the clips correctly along with the sound of the music, this was much different to movie maker that I had used but my skill have progressed  and I was able to create the simple clips that I display bellow this shows how my use of digital technology has progressed and the type of technology I have used.

This was my example of editing to the beat this was my first proper use of final cut and although I didn't complete much but this use of this technology definitely made me more confident with it.


The next time I used final cut technology  was  during our lip syncing task where I decided edit the footage together myself I was not the strongest but gave me a chance to learn .....
